
This might sound like a cliché but it is true. Being happy does not mean you feel enthusiastically elated every single second of every day. Yes, feeling joy is a very important part of being a happy person nonetheless, even happy people have blue moments, can feel desperate or frustrated, even feel the need to cry and that is completely fine and valid.
The difference is that happy people are resilient people among other traits.
A happy person is resilient because is capable to shift from a sad mood or negative thoughts to better ones, perhaps not instantly however more easy than others.
A happy person does not fight sadness, is not like they are trying to avoid it at any cost, no. They are people who are aware of their emotions which means they feel them to understand them, this allows them to make that shift once the critical analysis has passed.
Some characteristics of a truly happy person, yes even happiness can be faked but a truly happy person:
- Possesses self-confidence. There is no need to embarras anyone in any way to make them feel they are worthy.
- Respects their self therefore respects others, their ideas, thoughts, actions and way of being.
- Values themselves and therefore value others as well
- Likes to help others sincerely; even if it is just moral support because sometimes that is all that can be done, still the energy and support are felt.
- Are aware of their energy and the energy they spread around
